The Chilean government has released the results of an analysis it conducted on recent UFO photographs. The images were investigated by CEFAA (Committee for the Studies of Anomalous Aerial Phenomena) which is located within the country's Ministerial Department of Civil Aeronautics, the equivalent of America's FAA.

According to reports, four mining technicians at the Collahuasi copper mine on the Andean Plateau witnessed a strange silvery disc-shaped object slowly approaching them before hovering in the sky overhead for more than an hour. Maintaining an altitude of around 2000ft, the object seemed to change its position a few times but kept within visual range for the duration of the encounter.

None of the technicians wished to be named or interviewed about the sighting but one of them had managed to grab a camera and take photographs. The area in which the sighting occurred is located 14,000ft above sea level and enjoys extraordinarily clear skies.

According to CEFAA the object couldn't have been a drone because of the lack of noise and because there had been no drone activity scheduled in the region at the time of the sighting. In the end the investigators concluded that, having ruled out the alternatives, they were unable to determine what the object was and admitted that it was, in their view, a "genuine UFO".
