66th anniversary of the Roswell incident

Today marks precisely 66 years since the infamous UFO crash took place at Roswell, New Mexico. For years the incident has been hailed as one of the most important events in Ufology and is often regarded as one of the earliest alleged examples of the US government covering up evidence of extraterrestrial visitation. Press reports at the time described how a 'flying disk' had crash-landed in the area and that debris and bodies had been recovered from the site. Despite a variety of witness testimonies the exact nature of what happened that day remains unclear. Officially, the object that crashed was a 'weather balloon' and the alien bodies were 'crash-test dummies'.
Unofficially, the stories from servicemen who were sworn to secrecy for decades suggests that the incident was anything but that. Whether the actual series of events that took place in Roswell that day will ever be fully revealed, however, remains to be seen. Conspiracy theorists have claimed that US military had captured a crashed alien aircraft outside Roswell in July 1947, but authorities insisted that the incident merely involved the recovery of debris from a top secret surveillance balloon.
