Exorcist calls for rules to be relaxed

Father Gabriele Amorth claims to have personally rid the world of more than 160,000 demons. Head of the International Association of Exorcists, Father Amorth has called for a change in the rules so that all priests can perform exorcisms without first requiring permission from their bishop. The call came following the claim that Pope Francis performed an exorcism on camera last week which was later denied by the Vatican. "Today, unfortunately, bishops don't appoint sufficient exorcists.
We need many more," said Father Amorth. "I hope that Rome will send out directives to bishops around the world calling on them to appoint more exorcists." The Catholic Church's leading 'exorcist' is calling for all priests to be allowed to conduct the ritual after Pope Francis apparently performed one in St Peter's Square last week.
